Millet Seeds 'Purple Majesty' F1

  • Dramatic dark purple-black foliage
  • Tall purple flowerspires in summer
  • Birds love the seedheads
  • Good accent plant

Millet ‘Purple Majesty’ is a fabulously dramatic annual grass with deep purple-black leaves and tall purple flowerspires in summer. The flowers are followed by shiny purple seedheads that birds love. With its colourful foliage, this makes a superb accent plant dotted through a sunny border.

Sow indoors

Sow on the suface of module trays of pre-watered compost and keep in warmth, 10-15°C. Keep moist.

Grow on

When the seedlings are established in the cells of the tray, transplant them into 8cm pots and keep them frost-free.

Harden off/plant out

Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out when the danger of frost has passed. Allow 30cm between plants. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot for the best results.

Advice

Please note that the young plants are green. The purple colour will develop once the young plants have established and been planted outside.
